SEIZED Gran Torino Elite will it RUN & DRIVE after 29 years? - Vice Grip Garage EP89
I found a RARE 1975 Gran Torino Elite in North Dakota. Of course, it hasn't run in many, many years, so I had to have it sight unseen. The surprise is, after looking into it the 400 engine was locked up solid. Plus mice ate EVERYTHING electrical. More dijical work, great. Think it will even run at all? If it does, think it will make it 600 miles home? Watch and find out!

@dan mackintosh on on o o on. The bThe b. I. Oj
Look at all the rust on that lol funny how people don't ask why new shit rusts and take their shit back and bitch and here we have a 30 year old vehicle with almost no rust
Ditto - i dont know much about engine and body repairs, but watching this man has helped me learn quite a bit. And his dry sense of humor cracks me up. What a blessing for us to find him on the internet!! So may God bless him and his family, he gets them all involved in it, his wife in the upholstery side of business and she is really talented too. Nothing seems to ruffle him, he must have a quite a background in auto repair going back to his teens/childhood as well. Good Luck and keep these videos coming, we'll keep watching!
Couldn't have said, erm written it better!! Actually JYD and JYM replaced my TV.... keep rocking guys
You always start at the farthest bleeder from the master not the closest
He's really good at not giving companies free promotion
Words of wisdom: The car was a clunker when it was new.....let it go man and save the planet. Whatever you paid for this car, you got robbed.
You are funny lol great video!!!!
Thanks
Blow up the car and burn down the building fuck all other options.
I love it !
What does a used knee brace smell like ?
41:44 now thats a real pissing match
41:41 Bukkakecleaning xD
would make a good Hotrod with a little work?👍🏼✌🏼🍺
Looks like a 351 modified I had one in a 78 Bronco
Fantastical channel!
It's me or this car reminds me the cop car in the Blues brothers movie?
Had to watch the "let go" at 27 minutes in a couple times. Classic. I'm picking up a lot of tricks from the challenges you take on. Also know all the country you work in being a native of the areas myself.
You earned my subscription today, Wow what a gem!
Thanks for subscribing
why is Berryman the I-talian treatment?
LOL a "bumper tickle".
Old Ford just put a new sending unit in and you had oil pressure
i was gonna say hey it works but ya
thats a bad manifold leak oof
got enough sprayers holy crap
People actually hit the Dislike on these?? LOL
This is my favorite show in life. Hilarious. One question for fellow fans (just because I'm curious): Are these cars bought for our entertainment in the videos? Like, what's the upside of putting all that work into a car that will never be worth more than a couple hundred bucks?
Car sold for several thousand.
Wobble pops, haven't heard that one in years!
Spray it as it's cranking! Far out
I think with jobs like this you should just take the bull by the horns .... drag the thing out into a field fill it with bullets torch it and bury it in the ground....... or words to that effect.
i remenber when these were brand new
Yep my girl friend in high school had one of these. Big old back seat.
Comment for the algorithm 👍
"You Ford Fans" There it is, was wondering why it took 2 whole minutes before adding Delco parts & fluids BUTT! I didnt catch which engine it turned out to be - the ford 400 is considered by us ford fans to be a 'disposable' engine - the sparkilators appeared to be those relative to the 351-C Congrats for being the only guy in history to bring one back - shows pure talent - keep those cold snacks flowing, and... KUDOS, eh? OOPS - yea, yea 🙄
Sweet! My dad had two 1976 models into the mid 90s! One black with a red top and interior, and a green one with a white interior and top that my parents bought new. Cool cars!
Guy reminds me of a younger Red Green
that was impressive
Thanks
too funny, enjoyed this, why wasnt tech college like that,,,
Fun to watch. You are not afraid of work. Also, great editing, music lead in and levels are awesome. Wish others would be half as good.
If you are ever in Kentucky and need a Ford carb. I have a few Ford 2100 and 2150 2 barrels on hand at all times.
Jeus, people drive fast upther. He musta been runnin 180-190 Mph’s and folks are just passin ya like nuthin.
how is it that these old cars that are super heavy and a have a V8 engine get the same mileage as some of the new cars?
Got a ‘63 Chevy 1 ton with a 283 and 4 speed that has not run in over 20 years. I need to get busy ,
I enjoy these basket cases. Most every problem a fella can have will show up sooner or later...
No flames or mongh spoiler I hope
So if that sticker said 351m/ 400 or something along those lines it's not a 400, it's a 351 modified
I have a wife parked for 30 years... Can I get here going toooo. What a load of shit... ps it needs a wash tooo. comment and like MY shit and I will get a youtube calander.
“These y’know, either they don’t work, or you find cars, and then they just, they don’t work, in em. But the good news is, if you get that works, it’ll stop working, so.” - Derek.
Derek, I can listen to your voice talking about anyting (being a car channel is a bonus). I recommended your show for an elder that I know to get his heart rate down.... yep.
Great video!!
Thanks
Love your videos but I think you should have changed the oil before you ever started it and changed it again before you started the trip.
This is hilarious!!!😂😂😂
Man I miss my grandfather's old Mercury Montego.
The deeply mattock successfully frame because road previously whistle among a aboriginal herring. taboo, meek caption
Love your videos.cheers from Canada.
Thanks
You are a brave one. I wouldn’t go inside that thing without a full hazmat suit. I think this is where the corona virus startedLol!!! Should of taken it to a pressure wash place while it was on the trailer and wash the inside out. Lol!
It sure is A lot fun watching your videos! You’re a genuine down to earth honest man!!! Very rare individual you are!!!!
Neat car, but 1974 was the only year they called it the Gran Torino Elite, 75 and 76 they just called it the Elite. It's basically a Cougar XR-7 with a 6th Gen Thunderbird style front end. In 77 it basically became the 7th Gen Thunderbird and LTD II.
I have a 1940 chrysler only need a few things but I have them all new in box's if you want help me with it you can make a video of it. I broke my back and can't do it right now send me a message
Built Ford Tuff!
Holy Crap! I just found this channel. Greatest thing since sliced bread. You and AvE are a two peas in a pod. Love the channel. Amazing. Thanks for all the laughs!
I can smell that interior through my screen
I'm impressed with your knowledge and attitude to tackle what seems to be impossible at times. Good job!
what are your future plans for this rig ?
Love Lucas. Any of yall have much experience with rislone products?
Get off my lawn! There was a movie about this car.
Built Ford tough 💪
Shame the front bumper guards got a tad mangled.
This channel is better than polk salad!
You know, I get slightly stressed just looking at the chewed wiring around the 17min point. Where would you even start?!
All you really need to move are a wire to the distributor (actually the coil), and a wire to the starter solenoid. The rest is just extra credit! (Source: Caught my 74 chevy pickup on fire and had to rewire it myself after ripping out all of the dash)
That...WAS AWESOME
Thanks John
Had the exact same Toronto. Drove it for years.
Hey, I have a 74 Ford Ranchero sitting in back garage. Original owner, 117,000 miles. Parked since 1974, needs some work but body nice. It is next to 77 Fleetwood. When I get time I will get them going. Thanks for sharing your videos.
If the engine is actually seized... No. It won't run, or drive. Don't even need to watch the video to tell you that.
Well it is and it does.
17:17 loved the way he promptly fixed the Hoover.
Tonya Harding!!! greatest comment ever.
Since 1991 that's crazy...
The rachet strap to the socket wrench part is freaking genius!!!
Heard that beer crack open in the back 🤣
White vinegar will release the rings
I had one 1976 , fully loaded with moonroof ,460 burnt oil like crazy ,so rebuilt engine with 429 gears and it went like hell with a 3.75 rear end ,moved back to Ontario from Alberta ,and the salt tore the rockers and quarters out on no time ,cried when I junked her 2 years later😪
I had a 74 elite, nice car
"marvel mystery oil"......give some to that old gran torino elite engine & manually crank the crankshaft pulley/damper !!
I’m amazed you do all these long drives with no registration or valid plates
Gotta love the 1970s "pea soup puke green shag karpit" in da trunk der!
I initially thought it was mossy grass growing in there, lol
I had a '76 Mercury Montego MX Broughm back in 1978. It had the 460 cubic inch motivator and was a total sleeper 😎😃
I nearly cried in the end
Hold my beer and watch this! 🤣 You boys would fit in perfect with us boys here in south Alabama!! Get r done!!!🤣
Lil bumper skid
If that's just a 2-barrel carburetor, maybe your Ford Gran Torino has a 351 V8. I think that some 351s came from Cleveland (Brook Park), Ohio. My father had a 1978 Ford F-250 pick-up truck, with a 351 V8 in it.
In the 1970s, I think that Ford Motor Company keys said "Ford" on one side, and "Family of Fine Cars" on the other side. I used to drive a 1973 Ford Pinto Wagon, that had keys like these.
Its the trailer park boys car you need to lose a door hahaha?
Love all ur video great job.
This is awesome ! She’s a jewel with all Accoutrements! I’m a Georgia boy but I got family in Minot!
The pinical of a mechanics car
Love watching you and your family do the struggle to success! Reminds me of my husband and all the determination and ability to make it happen.
Everyone that's had a Torino and released it back into the wild wants it back. (Personal experience. Twice.)
I love your videos so much you’ve taught me a lot and you sense of humor is great you make it entertaining I’ve literally watched everything you’ve posted even all the way back to the first video thank you for making these great videos you’re teaching me alot
Valve cover has 94,612 things on it. Sounds like my 4 year old boy 🤦🏼♂️
I like the Torino. Nice of you to bring her back 🤗
I was physically shocked when you cut to the trunk lol.
nother good one. U'nda crew (when godem) seem ta have so much fun ah wanna B dair. Its been while so 4got the good drivin music (during the interstate) but it fits w/the speed-video of doz hrs behind the wheel (ur face or the vanishin rd ahead). Also love tryin to figure if you'll make it or what enjoyment U might have on the way (this time the pleasure ofa tank strap music onda asphalt - whada sweet tune). Wow I can't believe this car was able to be driving again after such a long time. 13mpg blimey did all American cars have such heavy consumption?
Typical for that size engine with 3 speed auto.
