    • focus on the way it releases off your hand. Don’t try to just snap thru it. Take a putter outside your house and throw it super short away from you, like around 75 ft or something like that, just throw it flat and let your fingers spin the disc. Work with that until you can put pop on the disc. Honestly it’s just going slow with it and getting reps. You have to unlearn other throwing motions (from other sports.) and learn how the disc is to release off of the hand. Eventually with power the disc is poping off and ripping out of the hand but that is a disc golf throw whereas if you try to throw it hard with bad mechanics it won’t release perfectly. Slow is good for this

  • Just came back to this from the Jerm vs Uli practice round where Jerm said that the run up is really just him making it look pretty for the camera and he can do the same thing from a standstill with regards to a forehand. Might just be him making a joke but i really do encourage people to work on standstill flicks for forehand shots.

  • Really wish you guys went into detail on the differences between a disc golf and an ultimate sidearm. For example, it is quite common for an ultimate player to throw nose up. How do we fix it? Also, I'd really like to know more about the throw and how not to hurt yourself.

  • I have been throwing sidearm since '69, '70. My little brother actually started before me and was better at it. I did not play golf until '78, BC player. Playing frisbee since '66. Some frisbee games r history. One is guts. You can never really be that good at guts unless you can side arm, which I managed to impress others over the years, opponents suffering bleeding, broken fingernails trying to catch my tosses. For me the sidearm started with skipping rocks on the water, tossing disks, paint can lids, shingles. Learning to toss the frisbee was different, difficult and did not come that easy as it did to my little brother and you actually had to re-learn with the frisbee golf discs which screwed up going back playing catch sidearm. I never met Ed but I would imagine that like all disc golf enthusiasts he was impressed with my little brothers sidearm prowess. All these years I am just amazed, however, that the forehand is just not across the board. The feel of the disc is important, not the same on all discs, especially on the release. Keep tape in ur bag starting out for ur fingers. You will also wear out the toe of one shoe, right shoes are important. If ur going to hustle people, u need to learn how to throw both ways both arms.

  • It’s so weird. I suck so bad at everything else in disc golf (just started playing very recently) but the only shot I’ve ever had working for me out of the gate was the forehand over with the slight fade at the end, and I wonder if I have baseball to thank for it. I have the Nate Doss Ti Buzz and it glides like an angel for those 150-200 feet forehand shots. The only disc I can S-curve so far even though I don’t have a ton of distance yet. Hope it doesn’t take forever to be able to throw one pretty far, kind of miserable watching pros throw mid range discs into 400’ foot par 3’s while you max out a driver at 300’ lol

    Mr. MiamiMr. Miami3 kuukautta sitten
  • 13:24 The slow motions tell everything. This may be a good lesson for advanced players but may confuse a new beginner when he doesn't even know how to grasp the disc.

  • Jeremy said "tennis elbow" when he actually meant golfer's elbow. It is a strain to the inner elbow, not the outer elbow. Very different. I really appreciate Jeremy talking about possible injuries when throwing side arm, because they happen all the time. Take it slow, and warm up.

  • I had an A HA moment last PM. You need to pinch the tip index finger with the thumb. I noticed Jeremy's thumb is almost away from pinching any of the fingers underneath. I've been doing the same thing, laying the index finger and ring finger along the rim and just pinching the thumb anywhere on the plate. If you don't pinch the tip of the index finger with the thumb you won't have the "1 point" pivot to rotate around. Also I discovered that with this "pinching", my hand rolls over like Jeremy's and it is very comfortable. Now you might think "No you must have the palm to the sky!". Oh nah nah. 100% NO OAT. No wobble. My previous 5 years have been just put the thumb on top and push down hard. I couldn't get rid of OAT. The reason being is: if you are not pressing the thumb against the end of the index finger then it will likely just be pushing down on the index finger in different places along the finger or not even on the finger. Now when you throw the disc the disc edge just bounces along the edge of the finger and starts the wobble. You need the consistent pinch point. You might think "well it will just pivot off the end of my middle finger" Yeah it will and it will be inconsistent and weak. With the thumb and index finger pinched, the disc edge will obviously bounce along the index finger but you actually have not released the disc because the contact point has not been released yet. Without the pinch point the disc is just weakly moving to the middle finger tip and your hoping for the best. Now you can really feeling like the disc is going where you are pointing at release. Really an eye opener. Sorry so long. Just had to get this out as I've suffered way too long,as an old man, figuring out the FH. Hope others can get good results like I have. I can definitely see where you can throw >320ft without much effort .

  • Commented on another video, but is forehand suppose to be odd? I feel real comfortable shooting forehand, I didn’t think I would be, but I am very inconsistent backhand. Had a couple older guys who know way more than me today surprised how I was making forehand work. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • Hey guys! Love you both, but I'm always expecting a little bit more detailed and technical breakdown of the form. I'm struggling with the forehand. How to get a clean release, what about wrist action and followthrough. Sort of like here about ultimate: and some of the videos Brodie you have done in the past. Jeremy jumped from grip to feet, and I kind of feel the feet are not so important in the beginning. Big rant on my part. I'm sorry :) Maybe you had another purpose for this video. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a video with detailed breakdown of the form would be much appreciated. Otherwise enjoying your progress Brodie and thank you for your videos!
