  • Nice job! If you switch over to prepreg carbon fiber you would be done after taking it out of the vacuum bag.

    Kevin LKevin L4 kuukautta sitten
    • Well I tried. I think with prepreg you need to cure the part in a oven or autoclave which a door panel probably wouldn't like.

      Kevin LKevin L4 kuukautta sitten
    • This is an overlay, not a full carbon fiber part!

      AllianceCarbonAllianceCarbon4 kuukautta sitten
  • dam u should nake my pannels

    george izqgeorge izq4 kuukautta sitten
  • I highly recommend sanding the first cured layer for better results.

  • With your basic skills why don't you do it the right way make a mold and make it in pure carbon fiber and not overly

    Henning MathiasenHenning Mathiasen5 kuukautta sitten
    • because skinning takes less than half as much time and resources, and you still have to sacrifice the original piece either way when it's upholstered like these door cards are

      Not Raym0ndNot Raym0nd3 kuukautta sitten
    • @Corey Conway I will say it's about the same ammount to make it. first make a fiberglass mold and then lay up the carbonfiber inside and vaccum bag it. and then you save all the time doing finish work

      Henning MathiasenHenning Mathiasen4 kuukautta sitten
    • It is very expensive and time consuming that's why Most people are after the look not weight reduction

      Corey ConwayCorey Conway4 kuukautta sitten
    • in my opinion, he just wanted the carbon fiber pattern on the door panel. Whereas creating a mold will results in changing the door panel into a carbon fiber. On top of that he need to create a mold for just one time use. that's what I thought although it will be pretty interesting to see it. I think he need to use VARTM for that instead of hand lay up

      Felix PurnomoFelix Purnomo5 kuukautta sitten
  • Looks good, but this is skinning, not part creation.

      AllianceCarbonAllianceCarbon5 kuukautta sitten
  • Awesome video and thorough step-by-step! A word of caution to you, though. The isocyanates in 2K clear can get into series 6000 filters and mess you up. You should have a remote air supply even if you can't be in a booth. 2K clear is nasty stuff and wouldn't want you risking your lungs to get a good finish on the parts. Even if you can't smell paint, isocyanates are scentless and are smaller particles than paint. Be safe and keep on recording, these videos are great.

    Patrick PetersenPatrick Petersen5 kuukautta sitten
    • @Patrick Petersen Thank you for the heads up I will look into that!

      AllianceCarbonAllianceCarbon5 kuukautta sitten
    • @AllianceCarbon any remote-source system should be fine. They're expensive, but worth it when compared to the side effects otherwise. The important thing to remember is the body can develope an intolerance to isocyanates after only one use, but it could happen at any time. Incredibly scary to see happen.

      Patrick PetersenPatrick Petersen5 kuukautta sitten
    • Hi thanks for the comment, do you have a recommendation as to what would be the safe option?

    RamgotterRamgotter5 kuukautta sitten
    • @AllianceCarbon It also states - "how to make a carbon fiber door panel" before it's clicked on so you don't see that until you've got a hit. Seems like just saying how too carbon fiber skin a door panel would be a bit better.

    • Vacuum bagging while carbon fiber skiing helps a ton with even epoxy distribution and adhering the carbon to complex parts, I would highly recommend it! Thank you for the comment!

      AllianceCarbonAllianceCarbon7 kuukautta sitten
  • How much would you charge to do this?

    Mark JamesMark James7 kuukautta sitten
    • As labor intensive as it is and at about $10.00 per hour it would probably come out to about $1700.00 per door.

      ThunderbyrdThunderbyrd4 kuukautta sitten
