  • He's an absolutely gifted driver and he's been getting better adding to his arsenal every year. I would say World Championship Calibre talent if he raced in a different era (much like Daniel Ricciardo) too bad he's going up against the best the sport has ever seen. Must be the most frustrating part of driving the best car on the grid.

  • Lewis really needs someone to fight against him, not for him. I mean, Valtteri is very good driver, but it is painful to see always that Mercedes doesn't give him chance to fight for the win or title.

    SamuliSamuli2 kuukautta sitten
    • @nicobr00 yep, what I said that Lewis needs someone to challenge him. Valtteri can challenge him, as we can see in a qualifying or couple races but Lewis' consistency is too much. And it is clear that there are first and second driver. Two first drivers like Max and Daniel in Redbull isn't very good idea but Bottas won't never win the title if they consentrate on Lewis too much

      SamuliSamuliUukausi sitten
    • Lewis is too quick and consistent for Botas. In 2016 Hamilton was severely hampered by reliability issues resulting in 3 DNFs resulting in Rosberg winning the title by 5 points. Basically Botas needs Hamilton’s merc to break down at least 3 times in a season to stand any chance of beating him.

      nicobr00nicobr00Uukausi sitten
  • Well this clears up the shit from the other side of the Hamilton Fanboys, clearly Bottas was relying on radio messages that weren't coming through fast enough and couldn't see a thing behind him.

  • Bottas is clearly not as good as Lewis, but he's done a decent job still. He's enabled Mercedes to easily win the constructor's championship again. Most of the drivers on the grid are very close to each other in ability, imo, so I think probably quite a few other drivers could have performed as well as Bottas has.

  • If VB ever wants to get that WDC he better start handing out the brown envelopes a la Rosberg. It amazes my how Lewis always seems to find another gear even when he's outqualified or not in the best position to win. I know disappointment is relative given VB has race wins and a great salary, but it must suck to know your team mate is just plain better than you in a car you'd otherwise be challenging for the WDC in.

    Al HemmingsAl Hemmings2 kuukautta sitten
    • I heard one analyst say the key to Lewis' success is his ability to take care of his tires. He seems to have the ability to limit wear and also to consistently wear the tires equally. Said he had spoken to some of his engineers about this skill and how they were stunned by it.

      equinox projectequinox project2 kuukautta sitten
    • @Emil I am definitely a fan of Lewis' driving and have been since 2006 when I first saw him in GP2. Most gifted driver I've ever seen and has only ever got better. Less of a fan of his public persona nowadays with all the fashion changes and new views he's developing. I wonder if, away from the track, he still figuring out who he is yet. Usually by your 30's you have most of your 'position stands' worked out. Bottas is a fast driver but even amongst F1 drivers, I don't believe he is in the highest echelon. The best athletes are master compensators who adapt around any situation. I see this in Max, Charles, Russell, Alonso, Kimi, but not he.

    • @Empathy Compassion Woah there fella. There's a very big difference between catching a group of cars and overtaking them. Except for some miracle where Seb, Charles, and Sergio fell off the track there is no way Sainz was going to overtake all 3 of them on 1 lap. Going off the racing line was extremely risky and treacherous. At best he might have had 1 attempt on LeClerc. Even with 10 more laps there is no reason to think he would have overtaken all 3. Seb and LeClerc were faster than Perez at the end of the race but neither could get past. Sainz had a good race and did a good job, but he was never going to be in contention for a podium.

      Tess TicklerTess Tickler2 kuukautta sitten
    • @Tess Tickler i guess in that respect Sainz and Vettel fared well too.Sainz was faster and catching up Perez,Vettel and Leclerc towards the end of the race, one more lap would had put Sainz on the rostrum with P2.

      Empathy CompassionEmpathy Compassion2 kuukautta sitten
    • This idea that the rain washes away advantages and makes them equal is absolute garbage. The biggest differentiator for this race was being able to heat up the tyres. The cars are not equal in this respect. This is the reason Racing Point were on pole, why RedBull were quick, and why Mercedes were slower. Then there is downforce. Downforce can make a huge difference in the wet and the teams do not have equal amounts. The only thing that gets remotely equalised by the rain is engine performance. This was not and never has been an even playing field. However, Bottas was embarrassing. Lewis was fantastic (but we've come to expect that). Perez did great. Stroll was excellent, but let down by a bad strategy call and his tyre management skills. LeClerc was good. Seb was good. Verstappen had the fastest car on the day by a mile and should have won. He threw it away with impatience. Albon has never belonged in the RedBull and showed that clearly. He was gifted an easy shot at the win but blew it. Most of the others did about as good as could be expected given their equipment and circumstances. No stand-outs from memory, but nothing bad either. Stand-out performances were Lewis and Perez. Bottas, Albon, and Max had shockers.

      Liam JLiam J2 kuukautta sitten
    • @Ausrius Didziokas I understand that Valtteri is mentally destroyed after last weekend's race, but if he can at least win one of the remaining three races (subject to changes due to COVID lockdown restrictions) of this season, this will help him boost his confidence to become a title contender for next year's championship although I know that Lewis will be hard to beat (if he stays with Mercedes next year).

      bryangoh8bryangoh82 kuukautta sitten
    • He had races that motivated him still hasn’t won the title so the best he can do is challenge for the title next year and say at end of next year even though I didn’t a title this (fifth year at a title winning team) can at least a challenged and gave it a good which would be good because we know he is not as good as Max, Hamilton or charles and Russell as well.

The problem is, as fans we want some competition and since Merc is dominating the scene by far we want a competitive driver in the other Merc seat. This way we could see if Lewis is really Schumacher level or not. Cause it seems to me you need a good rival to be a legend. It’s not just being best. It’s being best of the best. • Why would he want a number 1 clause if he crushes him so hard without it?

  • I read somewhere that Valeri had steering issues after that first lap shunt that ruined left handers so the correction of oversteer was near impossible and I think all his spins 6 I think, where in left handers. Must feel sorry for him.

    • @kreecik_ yeah but how about the times that he led a race? Ofcourse some things are out of his control, but in my opinion he made to many mistakes, by locking up or degrading the tyres too much, which gave Hamilton the chance to take the lead. It’s easy to just blame everything around him, I just find that he’s often involved in those ‘bad luck’ situation compared to other drivers. I am not saying it’s completely his fault, just wondering if he could’ve handled some things different.

    • @kreecik_ yeah lol I mean I'm not a boottas fan but come on these people are unfair to him. He's a solid driver even if it's not on par with Lewis.

    • @Walid Ahabad mate he ran over debris in imola, had brakes issues in styrian quali, his tyre blew up, had dnf due to pu, how the fuck could he avoid these

      kreecik_kreecik_2 kuukautta sitten
    • Yeah, but every race there’s something wrong with his car. Isn’t that also a quality? To avoid things that can affect the performance of the car.

  • Valtteri, it's James. Let Lewis by.

    • Lewis, it's James. Overtake Valtteri and get in there So, Valtteri, this is Jock. Let Lewis by. James, Jock, it's Valtteri. Make the laps less Pronto, Valtteri. S🅱️innala. And that's how Lewis "always win, because of imbalanced Mercedes" Hamilton became a champion again and how Valtteri "Valtterier" Bottas was 1 lap slower, than Lewis.
