Back in Service After 16 Years - V12 BMW E31 850i Revival - Project Malaga: Part 2
Fast-paced, wrench action-packed revival of a 1991 BMW E31 850i that was left to rot in a garage for the last 16 years before I acquired it. In this video, we bring this mighty V12 back to life.
Towards the end of the video, I made a breakdown of parts and their cost. Also, in the end I give a hint of what the next M project car is!
P.S. I upgraded the camera so the video quality should be much better!

The uttermost network tentatively delight because drug concurringly hug over a five fly. absorbed, aquatic scene
Ich weiß garnicht was ich sagen möchte. Ein genialer Mechaniker, ein guter Entertainer, ein prima Regisseur, ein guter Filmschneider. Achwas, es macht Spaß zuzuschauen. Weiter so und viel Erfolg.
You are my hero
Nice job
its a pitty you hit the new radiator when taking apart the water pump
Nothing happened to it.
This car is perfect but now it's really time to change the exhaust and make it louder! We can't hear that thing
Garage mechanics suck because if they they did a great job like this they would have cost 30k for that job!
Good consistent work 👍
How long does it take?
My friend had an 8series, had it tuned, lowered & it was a beautiful monster.
So glad I found your channel! great content.
This guy is the German equivalent of Ed china
did any one see the forth spark plug from the left. it's been a long time since i played with an engine but that should have rung alarm bells. good used spark plugs are meant to be a sandy color
Great Professional Job ! I wish we had some masters like you in Turkey too :(
Great video, great information, great time watching it
My fav car ever ever ever!
New subscriber 👍🏻 love the videos, will be binge watching shortly. Keep up the great work! Greetings from the UK 👋🏻
I am amazed how well these are designed, you can get to anything and do everything yourself, not like a range rover
@21.50 start you bastard 😨 I know exactly how you feel...all nite long 😢 Respect to you sir..you are a great chap (I wish vettell was better in ferrari 😎) Danké wünderwüd
Mesmerizing. A real mechanic exists. He should be training the factory mechanics lol.
Excellent job fella, really loving the content, your really growing on me.....
Wow man, really good job, love it!
Hey m539 I have a question. I remember once on wheeler dealers Ed China said to put the timing right when changing the belt. So that all pulleys are centered. I dont see you do this or talk about it in your videos. Could you explain us about this point please? Keep up the good work
@M539 Restorations Thanks for clearing up! When can we expect new content from the v10?
You are mixing up some things. I changed accessory belts in this video, not a timing belt. Majority of BMWs have a timing chain, not a timing belt.
Bmw = break my wallet literally 😂
A phenomenal job by the mechanic.
Nice work. It cleaned up beautiful.
It look so much like K.I.T.T. Maybe German version :)
Enjoyed watching, for this long!,
I no jack shit about car mechanics! So this guy as just made me feel a whole lot worse about servicing my own car😩😩😩I wish I had 1% knowledge this guy has cos he’s the Boss👍
this is ja komplett kaputt hahaha :D
I really like the 80's vibe synthesizer music!
You’re amazing!
Приятно слушать и смотреть
Big respect ✊
Damn wish I had seen this video before I sold my 850!! I had problems too but was terrified of touching that V12, but after seeing this, it's only nuts and bolts, good video buddy.
the perfect mechanic
Cool ^^ check this out too fistream.info/work/videot/bamhgLCziIHYnIE
21:56 Love it!
How do you go about bleeding the cooling system apart from those silly little removable caps?
It's impossible to find a good, honest, mechanic/garage these days. They're rarer than rocking horse shit. Great video. Thank you, keep up the great work. May The Force Be With You, from Manchester, England.
this is the most satisfying video ever
Many youtubers say we are working, please like my videos. I think most of them are unaware of this video. It definitely deserves liking. 👍🏼💪🏼
This is the first two videos I have watched of yours, wholly shit your so knowledgeable on these cars, and your main job is IT? Wow, very clever guy. Fogging oil for MEN 😂😂😂😂😂
I subbed as well. I would buy a used car unseen from you after this vid. BMW build a legend with the 8 series back in the 90's. Very nice to see you giving it a second life. Good work
Maf sensor?cleaning?
Терпение и запчасти делают чудеса да ещё не рукожопость молодцы уважуха.........
Your dedication and quality of workmanship and your god level mechanical skill was a pleasure to watch, many thanks.
Nice job! How much did you buy it and how much did you sell it for?
Your focus is inspirational, thank you & Happy New Year 2021 :)
Mechanics at it’s best: I would give my W124 to this guy without any doubt.
Great VID! 👍
The 45 mins was soothing and to some extent exciting to watch! There was optimistic approaches for every second of the video.
The radiator has a drain plug, at the bottom left, in the direction of travel.
How much do you sell this car?
you da man
Your the best!!!! Man i wish you would do my BMW!
Cop's car in Karppi
Great job guys, professionalism to the smallest detail
Mesmerising....👍👍👍
i can not believe you sold the car after giving so much love to it.i think you are crazy, what have you done...
I am looking at a 93 850 that’s been sitting outside for 8 years. Price is very low.. Does not run, no title.. I love the car but have to decide if I want to take on such a project. This will help me decide.
It's nice to watch a man who knows what he is actually dong...skills knowledge and understanding, well done! I don't even like BMWs!
You are one of the best 👌
I had an 850 ci and it was a fantastic car but a never ending money pit.
me at 2:30am starting this video: ah a man with an accent repairing a 30 year old BMW, this will surely lull me to sleep me at 3:15am: so where is part 1????
Yea Stret, I jumped the gun on that one. Should have watched the whole video. Have you ever thought about an older 7 like an E23, 735i? After a Dinan chip, suspension update with Bilstiens, bigger sway bars and ditching the Metric wheels for a set of real nice alloys, and higher performance tires and re-upholstery the car was a stunner and that M30 was smooth. Great car once modded. About the only weakness was to put the thread locker on the cam oiler banjo bolts. I never had a problem with the nanny failure as I used synthetic and did not do the rev in neutral. I also changed all the paper cone speakers to modern neodymium poly speakers. Big improvement.
master great vid
Well done buddy! You have a new subscriber. Thoroughly enjoyed watching you bring this back to life. Wish I had the tools and knowledge you possess. Own a e36 328i cab that needs most of the restorative work you've done but can't afford it just yet so its sitting collecting dust in my garage. Watching this is giving me the itch to start on mine. Thank you
Absolute perfection! All the way to the last 60 seconds of comic genius. Now my problem is allocating time to watch all of the other videos!
Amazing effort , well done.
Really enjoying these. And i no longer have my 740 so have no excuse apart from enjoyment! thanks:)
Great video.German engineering and car mechanic on top form.
Delightful to see such a skillful mecanic at work.
This guy is amazing. This clip is amazing.
You can take the electronic throttles apart, clean up the resistance trace dust, move the contacts to a new section of the resistance film and then re-synchronize the throttles. I don't recall the process for re-syncing but I'm sure it's in the web-o-sphere somewhere and as I recall simple. Also it pays to remove the ECU boards to recipe the edge connectors and remove oxidation. I also treated them with deoxit.
That was done as I said in the video, it just didn't make the final cut.
well done, great job thank you
So bad mechanics are found even in Germany (I mean those who "fixed" the fuel pump). It always amazes me how some people neglect maintenance, never mind the price. For most people a car is the second biggest spending in their life. A V-12 sounds so good. Your english is excellent, by the way.
Love your relaxed and confident work. Did you work for BMW in the passed, you seem very experienced?
i learned in young age to always buy new cars and scrap them when repair shop wants too much to fix them, and i am very happy i did from looking at this.
I always wanted an 850 E31... but I haven’t got the balls necessary.
Really joy to see ur videos 👍
Complete and excellent job as usual. If you want, I see an end to your IT career and a new one as a FIstream star !
Pa i svećice treba da menja nije to 6 godina nego 16
Molto bravo... Complimenti!!!
I've always had a thing for these 8 series cars...
Well done, excellent job all round, including the filming. Anyone who has done any real maintenance can appreciate the hours it takes to figuring out what needs to be done, and then doing whatever it takes to get the job done!
Wow!!! What an amazing video.
As amazing as his skills are and the whole final video product, the fact that he stated he is an IT engineer in this video and mentioned that he sits behind the computer to fix other people's problems for work, explains quite a lot in regards to his thought process and approach. Root cause analysis and good understanding of systems. Once you learn how to learn to look at systems, everything becomes simple, it becomes much easier to organise and crack down on any issue. All that is left is hard work and discipline. But since this is his hobby, it's not hard work, it's hard fun!
I love that rear end. The car looks nice too...
Man you are good... I meant very good.
Man you are good... I meant very good.
What a job! Masterful!
You worked your ass off repairing this one my friend !!! Very nice job however. :)
Amazing job thanks you for sharing your experience with us
Running into this video/channel = one of the best things happened to me in 2020.
Nice, check out my 1991 bmw 850i i got running after 20 years in a garage, check out gringogarage on youtube, thanks
this video making me want to pick a abonded car
This was one of the best informational videos ever! It was very detailed in the areas it should be but scipped over redundancies. You did the editing just right! Good Job!
