Whoops. The graphics at the #1 segment are incorrect, although #1 is still Apps.
Half of what you said is incorrect. Maybe use your tweezers and go screw with confidence?
LoL. I was about to write making notice on that
android tablets do stink though. so it's not all that incorrect.
Also the lower MacBook always had 2 ports
Haha that got me laughing
I'm just waiting when they tell us to wait again
Even though I'm not an Apple fan and I'm only want to test the Mac, your 5 reasons above, with all respect are not legitimate except the iOS support. Applebdoesnt 8nvent the wheel and this was already attempted by Microsoft but the major difference between Apple and others is that Apple they make things that actually work without issues. The surface pro x Hass issues but so far there is no major issues with the new Mac except Bluetooth issues with the mini. The support for Intel based apps will come on the new M1s
All of those reasons still make me NOT going to not buy the M1 MacBook air.
I was supposed to wait? Hm, I've got it wrong and bought a m1 Macbook pro. I'm pretty glad I did this, it's an amazing computer with an awesome battery life and stunning performance
To say Macbooks 'overheated' is an understatement.... To make it worse, Apple continuously made the cases thinner, squeezing out room for legit-sized cooling.
Again completely incorrect and useless info from a crap tech “news” company
TBird ports are full performance unlike sharing like before
I resent the lack of an Ethernet port; who is fine with using a wireless connection 24/7?
This is terrible
Thanks for wasting my time.
these aren't real reasons... the overall design have been simplified with 1 chip running at 15 Watts in an existing enclosure.
Touch screen and apple pencil support would be awesome for a MacBook. MacBooks feel dated.
The only reason I would consider getting a Mac Mini is for app development. There’s really nothing else it could do for me. I still don’t feel fully confident in my coding skills, so I think I will wait either 1 or 2 years.
Your webcam is really poor quality
this video became irrelevant the moment reviewers got their hands on the new mac!
Are you recording this video on a iPhone 1?
I won't bother watching this video I just saw the headline and came to comment that if you need a computer and want a Mac the new air is the best notebook that Apple has ever made and you should definitely buy one
Well after seeing all the M1 benchmarks and reviews so far, this video didn’t age too well...
Ikr. The guy has no idea what he’s talking about. He doesn’t even seem to know about the previous 2 thunderbolt port intel MacBook Pro 😂.
It doesn’t support eGPU as well
typing this on an M1 mac. Don't buy more intel ever.
The M2 macs are going to be great! I'm a windows user and never really looked at macs before, but the second gen of this machines are going to be mind-blowing. (Here I am on a $ 2000 PC that sucks around 300 watts from the wall and the only big advantage is gaming (Wich can be even better on a $500 ps5...). Anyways, 2021-22 are going to be very interesting on the PC arena or Apple is going to take a really big slice of the pie
M1 mac they have made without error. First product it is so no error.
it's all about the efficiency of the MacBook,MacBook run 10 watts when playing games whereas gaming pc run more than 100 watts
Such a manipulative video, some of what you siad on the edge of fake..
Apps used the emulation it is Faster as it’s been proven on many multiple reliable FIstream sites do your damn homework as for the design at least it’s proven in this generation with adding the M1 chip to a working platform
Apps used the emulation it is Faster as it’s been proven on many multiple reliable FIstream sites do your damn homework as for the design at least it’s proven in this generation with adding the M1 chip to a working platform That is reliable and works this review sucks
3:27 lol what makes you think they want their devices to look like that?
I kinda agree, though it would be cool i they shrank the bezels on the MacBooks.
Your assessment on MacBook Pro is very wrong. They replaced the lower end MacBook Pro 13" that had 2 ports buddy. The one with four ports is still on stock
sounds like all these reasons are all based on your imagination, that's not invincible at all.
Title should be- "A video made during the stone age"
“It” is not a first gen product. Just not true. Neither the MacBook nor the chip. It’s a evolution of Apple’s iOS-chip.
enjoy your stupid dell ups piece of crap
Not about the content, but I find it shocking for a consumer electronic content creator to post video with such a bad video quality. Like I find you guys should be the first to get a nice camera
Welcome to the new Verge. Seriously guys didn't expect this from you guys.😡👎 Ps: if you didn't get it go search for verge pc build.. 😂 And go & buy the new m1 macs they are THAT GOOD.
Lol 😂 imagine what cnet must be thinking NOW. 😂😂
the focus was energy efficiency, thats why less ports, still has 720 cam etc
PPC updates for three years... those of us who bought a G5 right before that announcement had a 3 year expiration on a high priced cheese grater. I don’t remember that period as fondly as you do.
What???? The cheaper MacBook Pros had two ports. It's the exact same thing as before. If it's not obvious, Apple is sending a message here. The M1 isn't ready for real pro work. Get an M1 if it doesn't matter to you. I hear homebrew is problematic on the new Macs.
is a new macbook air gonna be launched next year?
i dont understand a lot of this stuff, im studying graphic design and want to upgrade mi 2017 macbook pro, will i be able to use photoshop? i dont understand that rosetta stuff, sorry i’m not a tech guy
You should have quadruple checked. This review, in a nutshell, is why I go elsewhere for factual information. Really too bad as Cnet used to be a goto for me years ago.
720p camera so does the Dell you just told them to copy.
Parallels stated they are working on a new Mac version
First of all, hardly anyone ever uses boot camp. We use parallels, so you CAN continue to run windows OR ANY VM.
Yeah you get the M1 and they’ll say wait for M1X. Wait and get the M1X and they’ll tell you to wait for M2. Guess what. They upgrade their lineup every year. Just get what you need when you need it. If in the future you think you need to upgrade, then upgrade.
Arguably the most lucid review on the M1 I have seen so far. Thanks man!
Dude lol the new m1 is killing all the other laptops out there and you’re telling people to wait?
“No reason” *MacBook Air with performance somewhat comparable to a 16” pro*: am I a joke to you?
why would anyone buy a mac and run windows on it ? that just sounds dumb
Lol, you double checked and still got the number of ports on base MBPs wrong. This didn’t age too well after they shipped and numbers came out and these machines are are running as fast as i9 machines in emulation.
Now you can play game on Mac. Finally
I don't agree with any of the points discussed here. Recently got an M1 Pro, only issue is that i cannot install windows in it (lol, why would someone buy a mac to install windows :)). Other than that it runs great with all developing IDE's and databases.
He’s right. M1 is complete trash. Every new 6 month release you should wait for the next model. And then do it again. Don’t get into new technology so you don’t have to feel like a chump 6 months down the line. #1 reason to not buy now: so you can feel like a chump all the time. 👍
4:20 5 reasons why Android tablets stink? Fire your editor 😂
That's a XPS 13, Not XPS 13
One big reason to buy these is the price. Apple realize how good their silicon is and will surely hock up the price big time in future generations. I feel these MacBooks are some of the best priced apple products right now, and it will get even better with Black Friday coming up.
This video is almost embarrassing from a video production stand point. Script- not researched or tested, video and sound quality like something from the 90s.
Nah, I'm not waiting. Every time a new Mac comes out its "wait for the next one"
i think switching to an entirely new architecture is a *bit* more troublesome than a minor refresh
Every single year that some new tech comes out some FIstreamr tells you to wait lol if I dared to listen to you people... I get u though
The reasoning is weak and not clearly substantiated. Very poor argument that’s not based on much facts and in depth research
Anyone remember when Tom Merritt hosted this show? It had a lot more character then.
#5 -- This is not first gen hardware, they used pretty much the same hardware apart from the M1 chip, and Apple has 10 years experience making chips #4 - They do allow virtualization. And if games and Windows is so important then you wouldn't buy a Mac anyway. #3 - People who recently got an Intel Mac are probably happy with their purchase and will just wait anyway #2 - Sure, Apple could have made a new design, but that would have been more of an issue for #5. They went with tried and tested hardware so people focus on M1, not people complaining about some fancy new keyboard or something they decided to try in a new design. #1 - This is the only fair point you make, if you use a lot of third party apps, then you should probably wait a bit.
Apple Makes a dope Product , CNET : Do not buy it
CNET is absolutely right! Don’t follow the hype of M1 AppleSilicon and wait for redesigned macs in 2021. Honestly, in next revision macs SHOULD finally incorporate the long-awaited features: 1) Face ID 2) Slim bezels 3) 1080p face camera 4) 4 USB ports, more RAM 5) much faster M2 chip 5) Windows 10 x86 virtualization support. In this case it will became a really unbeatable game-changing “amazing” machine:)
A seriously misinformed video
Sadly a clueless video. “Don’t buy because speculation”. Youse should have waited till you actually reviewed a model and then could honestly comment. Especially with regard to Rosetta 2
I am sorry, are there many people, who buy more than 512 gb drives and more than 16 ram? I mean regular users of Air and mpb13? So, the real reason to wait is compatibility and first gen problems.
Too late! 🤷🏾♀️😩
M1 cool... first gen macs have some holes... Thunderbolt but no egpu support so those with nvidia or ati workflows need not apply for mac use anymore... you can run iPad apps and they build a whole new 'alternatives to touch' subsystem instead of just adding a fricking touch screen... i know they made fun of PC touch screens in iPad commericals... get over it... gonna put iPad apps on your notebook... put a touchscreen on it. and make it a 2-in one while your at it. Make an Air, fanless 2-in-1 with a touch screen and I'm there. It will take apple a decade to get to that machine though, even though they could do one next month.
Can the SSD on MacBook Pro M1 be replaced by user?
The halved number of USB-C ports, halved maximum RAM, and halved maximum SSD are a product of these being - as you observed - first generation devices; the nature of the technology upon which it’s built means the M1 simply can’t support any more than that. Apple aren’t stupid, they’re not going to try to throw something completely new out the door & hope it works, so they’re working with what they have & easing into Apple Silicon. The Developer Transition Kit was powered by an A12Z, these new seven & eight graphics cores M1 SoCs are for all intents & purposes what one could call the “A14X+” & “A14Z+” (i.e. iPad Pro chips with some extra components for Mac-specific functionality), there may yet be an M1X based upon the A15 & maybe even an M1Z based upon the A16; either way, it won’t be until they start building A-series-cores-based Mac SoCs from the ground up rather than upgrading iPad SoCs that they will be able to move beyond the limitations of chips designed for inherently limited “single-handable” mobile devices.
ধুর, তুই একটা ফালতু
Expected more from CNET than this seriously biased report with lame reasons to hold off. Haters gonna hate...
The mini Mac on board ram is anemic at 8 gigs with no way to increase it. This is not the way to go. If you can get VM on it then you can find a way to run Windows. Another reason not to go with the new Mac it must have a way to run Windows programs via VM program. If Apple goes back to the old days of pulling off hardware double or triple up charging for ram and HD upgrades or accessories. Me wouldn't go with that program. Windows machines can do most of it. End Story.
So petty
Good luck running windows on ARM? MS is already running windows on ARM. Parallels already is working on an update for the M1 macs. This is just FUD reporting. For 99% of users these are great significant upgrades (Speed, battery life) at the same price as the old versions. Sure hardcore pros will want to wait for machines with more ports and a beefier GPU, but that is only of concern for video editors, 3d animators and game developers.
I am an engineering student ....is the macbook pro 13 good for me? Will i be able to get access to all apps which might be included in my curriculum?
This is just superb, I have been researching "circuit board repair service near me" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Giyathan Bewildering Gratification - (just google it ) ? It is a good one of a kind product for discovering how to repair your electronic items like a wizard without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got great results with it.
3:41 The MacBook Pro doesn’t loose any USB-C ports, it replaces the base model so it’s always been like that
I've been waiting for apple to get their act together with my mid 2012 MBP. I have time
Video sponsored by Intel
just buy a touch screen overlay for use with any monitor and mac mini if you want to play touch ios apps.
I bought the Intel macbook air last week then returned it and ordered the new one
If you are a user dependent on third-party apps (not developed by Apple), it's best to wait out for the M1 generation until developers are able to optimize their apps to run compatible with the M1 chip. Bench scores aren't all that useful if you are unable to maximize the usage of your laptop due to app compatibility issues. Remember, the first generation isn't always the greatest. It's best to wait out until then.
M1 Rocks
You are an idiot.. what dis that ‘even then, the app will be a universal app ... advantage may not be so great’ ... dude ... do you understand what a universal app actually is???
Love ❤️ your videos mate thanks from Australia 🇦🇺
Another Apple basher. “ Hey hold off. We know Apple is always great but not this time...” Find better things to do with your time. You haven’t even touched one yet
Agree on number three however my Late 2013 iMac is late to the Big Sur party and can't play. I am now left with a decision. Do I get the latest Intel iMac knowing there will be support for several years while M1 matures or jump in the first version iMAC M(insert what that will be called here)?
The new M1 MacBook Pro has just 2 Thunderbolt ports because it is REPLACING the low-tier 13 MacBook Pro which DID have 2 Thunderbolt ports. The 4 port “high-tier” version has not been updated but is still being sold in Apple’s website with intel chips, probably because they will be updated soon too. 😄
The MacBook Pro didn’t loose any USB C ports. There have been two types of MacBook 13“ one of this versions only had two usb C ports that’s the one that got replaced the one with four ports is still available on their website. They will (probably) Launch another version of this MacBook Pro a slightly stronger one with 4 ports to replace this one
geekbench 5: apple m1 pt.7433,,,,,ryzen 4600h pt.4809 🤔 cinebench r23: apple m1 pt.4530,,,,,ryzen 4600h pt.8934 🙄
CNET couldn't wait a week and give a real opinion to us, instead they choose to make a click bait video telling us to skip when they last told us to wait for the M1.
My MBP 13 inch mid-2020 arrived on 4th Novemeber. Should I return it and get the M1 chip for the same price version? It is 8GB RAM with 512GB storage.
Microsoft has been working on a Windows on ARM version for some time now so hopefully one day we will be able to run Windows without the need for virtualisation
windows on ARM will have the same issues macOS on ARM is having right now; a performance hit when emulating x86, and a lack of native programs that won't really populate for many years. the ARM version of windows won't be that useful to mac users.
Saving up for the m1 mbp. I currently have the mba 2012 version.
Why
these designs aren’t first gen. all three kept their old form factor for a reason. tried and true.
Remember to get your comms from intel. Thanks for trolling apple
