  • I always try to understand why would you pay that much for something like this, you could easily get broken laptop or Microsoft surface, plug it in, install PoP OS and you would be more then able to run FIstream while doing something entirely different, I found this broken pile of Microsoft surface Pro 3 with i5 8gb of ram for 130$, just plug this boy right there and you just got yourself full working mini station, just enough for some lighter work etc

  • FIstream and Office documents? You may have missed the point. It's about learning computing as a creator - not as a consumer. The book is a really great way to get kids and bright adults into what it takes to create new software.

  • 2:06 From this moment, you know it's a different beast, because you get a text screen before the graphical color box screen. Older Pis (Pi 3 and older) booted directly into that color box screen, because the GPU actually booted first, and then booted up the CPU and the OS. With the Pi 4 and 400, the CPU is now actually in charge from the beginning. Not something the average person cares about, but it's actually pretty significant for those who would like to see the RasPi migrate towards being a 100% open source / free software device. It's not there yet, and ARM machines usually have a ton of closed/proprietary drivers and firmwares. The effort to get there, even if it will never be completed, is worthwhile, however.

Some people wish it were a fully-equipped machine, with a monitor and battery. I think the computer-in-a-keyboard is a really good middle-of-the-road compromise, and an outstanding homage to 70s/80s/early 90s home computers like the Amiga 600
